Setting up Media Monitoring

As you prepare to launch your campaign, it’s important to be able to keep your finger to the pulse of everything that surrounds you, your campaign and the issues that affect your race and your locality.

In order to stay up to date, it is recommended that you set up google alerts that will track the times the aforementioned topics are brought up in the media.

If you are not familiar with google alerts, here is a helpful tutorial to guide your efforts:

Set up an alert in your name, locality (i.e. “Harris County”), your opponent(s), and local issues and related entities (i.e. “House Bill 25” or “Spring County School Board”).

Additionally, if you have Twitter/Instagram accounts, follow your local media outlets and reporters. Oftentimes, reporters will live tweet press events and offer immediate information about your race.
